MPSL were appointed to provide architectural services on the development of 22 residential dwellings in an historical area of Manchester. With the site having been subject to several previous planning applications in the pas this scheme will transform the former Islamic High School for Girls into 2 bedroom apartments and 4 bedroom townhouses.
The development will offer the two bedroom apartments as affordable dwellings, equating to 27% site wide. The properties will be offered as Shared Ownership and Affordable Rent. The scheme has been designed in accordance with the Manchester Residential Quality Guidance, ensuring that the proposals respect the local context, and create a development which will fit seamlessly within its surroundings.
The homes have been designed to respect and integrate into the existing character by reflecting traditional terrace arrangements with contemporary features so that the proposals fit seamlessly within the street scene.
All dwellings will be provided with:
Brick facades and crafted stonework.
State-of-the-art sustainable heating
Solar panels and EV charging to each property.
Provision for cycle storage.
The scheme received unanimous approval at Manchester City Councils planning committee in June 2024.
