It is fantastic to see that construction at Flanshaw Way is nearing completion! This exciting project has brought 140 new homes to Wakefield, and we’re proud to have been a part of it.

This unique development see all properties fitted with low-carbon air source heat pump creating a ‘gas free’ scheme. The completed development will comprise of 75 homes for affordable rent, as well as 45 shared ownership homes and 20 available through a rent-to-buy scheme.

Flanshaw, a vibrant district in Wakefield, is on the cusp of exciting change. A significant piece of land, strategically positioned to the south of Flanshaw Way, has been transformed into a new exciting community.

This site offers a prime location with excellent connectivity to Wakefield City Centre and to the M1 Motorway.

While previously designated for employment, the site now home to this residential development. With its strategic location creating a thriving community and Harrap Meadow shaping the future of Flanshaw.

The site is surrounded by a diverse mix of land uses and as this area continues to evolve, this site and the surrounding area creates a harmonious blend of residential and commercial spaces, enhancing the overall quality of life in Flanshaw.

The scheme has been designed to create character through its use of materials, which naturally transition across the site.

Predominantly red / buff brick facings are proposed across the site, with subtle variation, through the use of render, used to define key plots, and enforcing their role within the street scene. A select number of plots within the heart of the site will feature grey painted bricks at ground floor level.

Architectural details include a contrasting band course, contrasting window heads, artstone stone window cills and painted brick, taking reference from details found within the local vernacular. A mixture of roof tiles are proposed, comprising grey and red tiles, reflecting the local area.

The development will deliver a high quality, well-balanced residential community, which will create much needed affordable housing, whilst appropriately extending the urban settlement boundary.
