The Ridings in Longridge, a brand new development designed by MPSL, has won not one, but two awards in 2021 regional and national housing awards.
Set on 10.9 acres of land to the west of Longridge, this fantastic new development will be home to 113no. two, three and four bedroom homes. The site, previously owned by TDG European Chemicals, was nothing more than a series of industrial buildings with a small area being used for agriculture.
The idea to develop this area provides much needed homes in the area, building out the community and with a great location close to Longridge and Preston, it serves as the ideal location for those looking to commute for work.
MPSL joined the project as principal designer, with Avison Young engaged as planning consultant and Trevor Bridge Associates as landscape designer.
Within the space of just one week, The Ridings development has taken home awards for “Large Housing Development of the Year” at the Insider NW Residential Property Awards and also won “Residential Development for Lancashire” at the UK Property Awards.
The Insider NW Residential Property Awards celebrate landmark schemes across the region and judges said that “The Ridings edged ahead as the winner thanks to its commitment to community and long-term value”.
The UK Property Awards are slightly different as they celebrate the very best of the UK property industry and are part of the world-renowned International Property Awards.
The design and development of the scheme has been a collaborative process which has allowed for a positive design solution. The layout creates a natural extension of the settlement boundary, whilst respecting the existing character and siting of existing residential properties.
Our initial proposal represented an update on a previously approved reserved matters application, with some changes made to layout. Final plans would incorporate 79-open-market houses with a further 34 affordable homes.
The scheme creates much needed high quality family homes, including affordable housing with associated open space.
