James recently joined MPSL, after graduating from Liverpool John Moore’s University in Architectural Technology.

James secured his first graduate job shortly after lockdown was lifted where he gained real work life experience, this enabled him to improve both his knowledge of the construction industry, especially residential, and perfect his skills in CAD.

I applied to be an Architectural Technician at MPSL because I have always had a passion for the design and technical detail of buildings. I have a desire to work in the industry and MPSL are a leading team of great professional people.

I began learning about construction and design in my first year at university, studying a HNC at Liverpool John Moore’s University in Construction and Property which then lead to moving onto second year of Architectural Technology. This is where my real passion started to grow, completing designs on a range of residential projects in interdisciplinary teams made me confident that my skills will be useful in the future.

Outside of work I enjoy playing video games and watching TV shows and films when indoors. I also love to go on trips to the lake district to go paddle boarding and clay pigeon shooting when I get time to, I take my dog with me when his legs are up to it.  I live in the countryside so there is not much going on besides the amazing scenery so starting a new job in a big city like Manchester will open a lot of opportunities for me and I’m excited for the future.

A quote I like is ‘If you don’t buy a ticket, you cannot win the raffle’, and while I’ve never won the lottery, sometimes taking a chance on something can lead to great things.
